It all started when…

Massimo's passion for food and wine can be traced to his formative years in Italy where daily meals consisted of organic products grown by his family on their farm. Today, he makes the pilgrimage back to his homeland every summer on a mission to reconnect with the spirit and culture, constantly in search of more recipes to reinvent.  

Massimo holds a Licencia Verace Pizzeria Napoletana – a rare accolade only bestowed upon expert pizzaiolos of authentic Neapolitan pizza. He has added to his expertise though sommelier training and further education with such industry luminaries as celebrity chef Robert Irvine.

In his 25 year career as a restaurateur in the San Francisco Bay Area, Massimo treasured the relationships he built at his popular restaurants, Sapore Italiano on Burlingame Avenue, and Via Uno in Half Moon Bay.

Over time, he realized he wanted a more personal experience where he could share his expertise and appreciation of food and wine with old friends & new, and Mangia con Massimo was born.
